The Senate is expected to vote on Tuesday, March 9 on H.R. 1105, the fiscal 2009 Omnibus Appropriations Act. If you haven't already I urge you, in the strongest terms possible, to send a powerful message to your U.S. Senators to vote NO on this bloated, pork-laden bill!

We are already winning this battle. CCAGW members and supporters have flooded Senate offices with more than 25,000 emails this week, and this enormous outpouring of public outrage helped convince enough senators to oppose the bill that Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) delayed yesterday's scheduled vote until Tuesday. Now the Senate needs to hear from tens of thousands more people like you that there is massive opposition to this boondoggle!

While many Americans are tightening their belts this spring, Congress has gone on a mad spending spree. In addition to the so-called "stimulus" passed just over two weeks ago, the pork-laden Omnibus Appropriations Act will cost taxpayers $410 billion and represents an 8 percent increase from 2008 levels. Combined with the "stimulus" package, total expenditures for some agencies represent an 80 percent increase in spending for fiscal 2009.

Instead of recognizing the fiscal reality of a projected $1.75 trillion deficit, Congress is intent on saddling you, your children, and grandchildren with enormous debt - all in a self-serving attempt to cater to the special interests and "buy" votes back home! Your help is urgently need to defeat this bloated spending bill.

Time is short, please tell your Senators to oppose the H.R. 1105, the 2009 Omnibus Appropriations Act!

Sincerely,

Thomas A. Schatz
President
