Lafayette Online: Indiana Governor Daniels signs Vote Center Bill

"[Indiana] Gov. Mitch Daniels today signed into law a bill authored by State Senator Ron Alting (Republican-Lafayette) authorizing the continued use of vote centers in Tippecanoe County and allowing it as an option for the entire state. ...
Vote centers – tested during the 2008 election in Cass, Tippecanoe and Wayne counties – showed high rates of success, in part, because of their convenience and accessibility. According to the Indiana Fiscal Policy Institute, vote centers also provide significant cost savings because they allow election officials to staff fewer polling places and reduce the number of voting machines needed to conduct an election."
