MagicValley.com: US District judge rules that Idaho open primaries violate Republican Party rights

"A U.S. District Court judge ruled today that Idaho's open primary elections violate the Idaho Republican Party's First Amendment rights.
U.S. District Judge B. Lynn Winmill's ruled Wednesday on the 2008 case Idaho's GOP party filed against Secretary of State Ben Ysursa. The lawsuit maintains that the state's open primary system violates the Idaho GOP's First Amendment right to free association because it forces Republican Party members to associate with nonmember voters.
In Idaho, voters are allowed to chose between voting on the Democrat or Republican primary ballot, regardless of party affiliation."
